Tigers Take Home The Hardware With A 5-3 Win Over the Muckdogs

In what may go down as one of the longest championship games in PCBL history, the Tigers were able to hold off and dethrone the three time defending champs 5-3. The orginally scheduled championship game played the week prior was called in the 9th due to rain with the score tied 2-2. Both teams agreed to continue and complete the game the following week and since we were all there, both teams, after a variety of polling methods and much discussion, decided to play a complete game instead of sudden death. Good thing for the Tigers too because the Dogs drew first blood scoring 2 in the top of the second.
League MVP, Garrett Behnke got the start and pitched a 9 inning gem, striking out 10 while yielding only 8 hits and 3 runs. G. Behnk (2-3, HR, 2RBI, BB) also got the offense going for the Tigers with a third inning 2 run bomb that scored David Decker who started the inning off with the first of his 3 hits on the day. All was quiet for the champs until the 5th when back to back singles and a walk loaded the bases for JC (2-4, HR, 3RBI) who laced a 1-2 pitch into right center scoring 2. JC got it done again with a lead off solo shot in the bottom of the 7th.

This was a great game to end a perfect 12-0 season for the Tigers. Both squads played solid ball all season and in the end, the two best played it out over 18 innings to decide who would take home the crown.
