2019 PCBL Mid Week Spring Championship

Giants (9-4) -vs- Tigers (10-2-1)
The 2019 Spring Midweek Championship Game featured the Giants versus the CBA Tigers. The Tigers were the defending champs, but the Giants got hot at the end of the season - let's see who came out on top?
Gio Garcia took the mound for the Tigers and worked around a Zack Brandt single for a quiet first. Bob Diaz started the bottom of the frame for the Giants and found himself in trouble pretty quickly. With one out, Nick Kaid worked a walk, and Bill McGrath singled. JC Barker singled home one, and Tony Cabrera singled home another. Eddie Baeza hit a sac fly, and Danny Pimienta singled home another. After 1 inning, the Tigers led 4-0.
Another quiet inning for the Giants, and the Tigers were at it again. Jaime Dorado and Rudy Hernandez led off with back-to-back singles, and after a Ricky Vega sac bunt, Nick Kaid singled home one, sending Diaz to the showers early. Josh Richardson relieved, but another run scored on an error, and the Tigers led 6-0 after 2.
Both pitchers settled into a groove, and the score remained 6-0 heading into the bottom of the 7th. Angel Vega led off with a single, and swiped two bags, eventually scoring on Rudy Hernandez's single and extending the lead to 7-0.
The Giants showed some fight in the top of the 8th, when Dave Odud and Anthony Garcia each singled with 1 out. But Gio Garcia got the next 2 batters to finish the frame, then worked a quiet 9th to bring home the championship.
Congratulations to the Giants on a great season, making it back to the championship after quite a drought. But tonight (and the season) belonged to the CBA Tigers - back-to-back midweek champions!
